Description of work: Wandering through my house, I notice that I have inherited, collected, and been given numerous ugly, cutesy, beautiful and weird objects. A few that family members have given me i only put out when they come over.
I printed etchings of these objects, to clean house and keep a lasting memory. I was able to reuse prints from a past installation by printing these images on the back side. Dipping these pieces in beeswax, I constructed my own wax museum. Some of the odd objects have evolved into compelling art artifacts as etchings.
I covered a large curved wall with prints. Pinning them away from the wall will give the illusion that each is a three-dimensional object. They are attached with suction cups. I want the viewer to encounter stories, memories from my etchings and then take a journey through their own space to find overlooked artifacts. Just as we evalutate our relationships with people, we must consider the relationships we have with our objects. |
