Description of work: Moon Contours are produced with digital photography utilizing the methodology of blind contour drawing in a completely new process, with similarly striking results. Blind contour drawing is done by drawing the outline or contour of a model without lifting the pencil or looking at the paper. This exercise builds artistic hand eye coordination, helping the eye trust the hand.
Moon Contours are created with a combination of a long camera exposure and the expressive, “lunatic” motion of the artist while the shutter is open. The night sky is the canvas, the camera is the pen and the ink is the light of the moon. Each composition in this series is an evocative, visceral seduction of line and form. You can see the beautifully curving lines of the model's body and pose, and you can visualize the artist working passionately to capture the essence of the model, unseen by the naked eye.
