Frank Newmyer, Jr.

Artist bio

Son of an internationally-renowned wildlife artist, this younger Newmyer's visually assertive works explore transcendent boundaries of wide-ranging motifs and themes to reveal the human animal, with some major pieces taking more than 10 years to complete. Works on canvas and paper respond in dizzying patterns, photo-realism and richly complex geometries while questioning the central role of man as modern carnal animal. Raised in a family in which his father owned a private art studio, Newmyer was strongly influenced by direct contact with sculpture, photography, nature, business, galleries and an endless line of artists and clients within this circle. The artist's examination of image and commerciality balances a visual language of status and conceptualism in contemporary culture and its effect upon the emotion experience of the consumer as an individual.
