Description of work: “The Make 5 Project”
When I first began to think about what I was going to do for ArtPrize this year my mind could not quite focus. I was not worried because something always presents itself to you if you keep an open mind. Then I got a call from Make-A-Wish saying they would like to collaborate on a piece for ArtPrize. I thought, “this will be great, now I can focus all my energy toward something specific. Oh yeah, I still need an idea”.
I knew going into the project that there was one thing I wanted to do, get the kids involved. So I started to brainstorm… do I make a tree and the kids hang stars from it… or maybe I make a giant star and the kids paint it. These were all good ideas, but I felt the kids would be just “a side note” of “my art”. I needed the kids to be involved from the absolute beginning of the design process, so that in the end their creativity would shine through.
The project now had its seed planted; next step was to water it. The children would draw |
