Artist bio

Experimenting with color, design and form has been a life long passion. As an art instructor I have the opportunity to continually learn, grow and be inspired along with my students. Through their enthusiasm, as they discover new techniques and develop confidence, I am reminded what a magical form of expression art is. Observing this is exciting for me and motivates me to explore all the possibilities each medium has to offer.

My work is inspired from nature, combining both realistic and imaginative elements. Paper sculpture continues to be my primary focus, the limitless possibilities fascinate me. I am continually finding new directions to take my designs, pushing traditional boundaries. Accomplishing the structural challenges is as rewarding as viewing a completed piece.

My entry is a mixed media piece. A seven foot high by six foot wide life size painting of Siberian tigers. The tigers will be walking out of the painting to represent their disappearance from our planet.
Paper Mache' over wire and plaster will be used to sculpt the emerging tigers. This work depicts the Siberian tiger that is critically endangered as a result of their habitat being compromised by deforestation and poaching.
I would like to continue to bring awareness to this urgent problem.
