About the work
Title: 64 Workers Lose Jobs

Art form: 2-D

Medium: Digital Art

Year created: 2011

Description of work: Does news represent the people it covers? We have become accustomed to seeing stories of dozens -- perhaps hundreds -- of people losing their jobs. Does the article give you a picture of any one of those people? If so, does it give you enough to make them stand out, or, do you simply have a name and nothing more?

This piece is meant to provoke more thought and discussion on the news stories we see. Can one story fairly represent the issues of large numbers of people? Why or why not?

While I still love news very much -- I would love to be engaged in the journalism industry for the rest of my life -- we must still be critical when reading even commonly occurring stories.

The frame was measured at 18 inches wide by 30 inches tall.

Height: 3 feet
Width: 2 feet
