Jane Petitjean
Artist bio I graduated with a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design, Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have also studied at Olivet College, Olivet, MI, and Western Michigan University. I worked for over 20 years as a graphic designer and illustrator creating package design, advertising programs, and television commercials. I also taught graphic design as adjunct faculty at Monroe County Community College. I have been an artist in residence at The Collingwood Arts Center. I was a featured artist with The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo in 2007. Most recently I was honored with the Best of Show and Picasso Awards at the Arts Commission's Parkwood Gallery, 2009 Salon des Refuses. I paint working primarily with oils on canvas. Currently, I work and reside in The Historic Old West End of Toledo, OH.

Description of work: This is a work resulting from my artist in residency in Israel. I was selected as an artist to represent the US Jewish community of North West Ohio traveling to Israel and participating in an Artist In Residency program in Western Galilee. My work is about the diversity of the population of Northern Israel and Kibbutz Gesher Haziv's Art Community. It was featured in Festival on the Fence 2010, Gesher Haziv, Israel. The measurements of the work I am submitting for Art Prize are 4 feet by 2 feet.
