Description of work: This 8' x 20' mural is a commentary on the effects social networking has taken on today's society. Personal photos that were once only intimately displayed in a frame or stories told only amongst a close group of friends are now splashed across the internet. Parents, grandparents, and co-workers now have knowledge of how you spent a Saturday night and potential future bosses or suitors are able to make snap judgments on one's character. Friends use to be people you would care to call on the phone and have a full conversation with and didn't need help remembering their birthdays.
Social networking has taken any intimacy and effort out of personal relationships and truly getting to know someone. By creating this large scale "facebook wall" I encourage you to judge who I am and my worth by simply what you see at face value. |
