About the work
Title: Anara Waits (The Beginning)

Art form: 2-D

Medium: oil on canvas

Year created: 2011

Description of work: Anara Waits (The Beginning) takes the form of a large scale painting (48" x 72" o/c) which depicts through use of the figure, the hope and anticipation experienced at the beginning of any journey. In youth we await the unfolding of our lives, poised to experience the endless possibilities that surely await us. We have little personal history to guide us, no past failures to discourage us, no sense of danger to warn us. We have only our imaginations to propel us. In such a pure state, we are surrounded by hope and promise, and filled with trust and belief. We wait with an innocence that is fragile and fleeting. Anara Waits portrays that brief and pivotal golden moment known as The Beginning. This is the first in a series of paintings titled Anara's Journey which once created will capture the vast range of psychological states experienced as one moves further and further into the journey referred to as Life.
