Description of work: Adventures of a 51 year old, special needs, artist attempting to earn a PhD in Arts Psychotherapies while taking the time to walk and discover, in a small part of Scotland, the John Muir Way and other trails of the Pilgrim, one of which was used to the carry heart of a Scottish warrior (Robert the Bruce) to the Holy Lands, stopping to rest at Tantallon Castle.
Dirt, Stones, Wind, Sleet, Hunger, torn ligaments, even thirst could not stop this artist, only sleep would demand that it was time to rest. The un-captured image, briefly held in the mind of natural light, big skies and winds unknown to this Michigan girl: seen as a painter listening, to the sound of the waters of the Firth of Forth, quite possibly being mesmerized imagining: Robert Louis Stevenson in his youth, sculpting in her mind, climbing and rockpooling. As the Bass Rock rises above the sealine, with strong diagonal calling to the Gannetts, a stronghold long ago and ….. St.Baldred …and the waves roll in. |
