Description of work: Quatre Saisons is a continuation of an image suite started in 2006 titled “Journeys” whereby I create a digital composite image by super-imposing many photographs taken during travels that could be local, national or international. The panels are arranged from spring to summer to fall to winter. Residing within these landscape images are composite portraits; in the spring image is a portrait of our grandson, in the spring image is a composite portrait of our two sons, in the fall image is a composite image of my wife and I and in the winter image there is a composite portrait of our parents. I am interested in exploring ideas of experience, memory, identity, place and the role of photography in our culture. As light reflects off of the surface of the images I hope the audience will reflect on their personal memories and experiences. |
