Danae Hoppe
Artist bio Accomplishing a bachelors in Interior Design from Michigan State University, Danae Hoppe has gone on to experience the Design Manufacturer world in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lowell, Michigan for the past three years. Lighting, Graphic and Interior Designs industries have developed a vast appreciation for the creative process of design. All the while, Danae has been developing her watercolor skills through fine art paintings. ArtPrize 2009 and 2010 initiated a more public display of her artwork. Two galleries including Betten Imports Local Artist Showroom and a local coffee shop in the Forest Hills Area in metro Grand Rapids allowed for the public to enjoy a wide selection of her art seasons after ArtPrize was over. This included watercolor along with acrylic, oil, color pencil and pen/ink. Since recently relocating to St. Louis, Missouri the pursuit to capture this city through watercolor will continue as in cities past. Interior Design will remain a strong emphasis as well.

Description of work: Danae Hoppe's ArtPrize entry 2011. "Transition to St. Louis" (21x29 Watercolor) will be on display at Grand Rapids Pizza Delivery on September 21-October 9th, 2011. Two people walking into the horizon are leaving a flotation device. Lake Michigan on either side of them hugs the narrow path ahead. Intertwining rope, some fraying in the light secure the orange ring behind the couple. In "The Transition to St. Louis", the faint words, "Frighten" and "Intimidating" are fading fast; Initial feelings describing the first impressions of St. Louis. Obstacles are clearing out of the way for this newly married couple, the path is becoming more clear with every step and faith continues to grow stronger the further the couple leaves safety. Moving to St. Louis from Michigan has been a difficult transition, but with every day the Lord is blessing Danae and Mark though a close and dependable marriage. No ropes are in site to secure them to one location, but the future is bright.
