Description of work: As an elementary art teacher at a school named, Stoney Creek,I would like to create a ceramic mural about a stoney creek.Everyday approximately 385 1st and 2nd graders swim through the halls of Stoney Creek Elem.Our 1st graders every year partner with the GRSteelheaders and learn the life cycle of a fish and are involved in growing fish from eggs and then releasing them at maturity. My students would each create a thumbprint clay fish 'tile' for the 'school'mural and in a way be leaving their mark behind as they swim off into the future. I would create some silkscreened clay fish and other details found in a stoney creek and ultimately create the rest of the clay mural. The ceramic pieces would be adhered to a 1/2 inch thick plywood frame and grouted into place. My goal in acomplishing this project would be to involve my students and their families in the artprize experience.The completed mural would become a permanent collection of the school building upon Artprize completion |
