Description of work: Inspired by Mark Rothko's paintings for the Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas, the Crown of Thorns series surrounds the viewer and draws him or her into the experience of Christ's Passion.
"My wife and I walked in and were floored by what we saw in the sanctuary. No sermon had to be said. Just the presence of the artwork said it all" was once such comment we heard. Another said "I hope those are going to up every year!"
We hope the work in its specifically chosen setting at Immanuel will also conduct a presence of awe, shock and contemplation.
