We recognize getting to ArtPrize® and installing a project can pose a significant financial challenge. Although ArtPrize cannot fund individual entries, many artists have been successful in obtaining grants and sponsorships from individuals and businesses.

For 2012, ArtPrize was given a special home on Kickstarter.com to help artists whose projects require significant support. Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Artists raise money from their fans by offering rewards related to their projects.

Kickstarter has offered a special page for select ArtPrize projects to be highlighted. Any artist participating in ArtPrize can launch a project on Kickstarter, but not all artists will appear on the ArtPrize Kickstarter page.

It’s much easier for artists located near Grand Rapids to raise support for ambitious projects. Therefore, only artists outside Michigan will appear on the ArtPrize Kickstarter page.

Why is ArtPrize highlighting certain projects?
ArtPrize is careful to be impartial when it comes to which artists compete in the event. The design of the event gives artists close to Grand Rapids an advantage in building community support. ArtPrize organizers continue to experiment in making a more level playing field. The ArtPrize Kickstarter page is attempt at creating an objective process to highlight projects coming from far away.
