Artist bio: Commercial photography has provided my primary income for more than 30 years, but it's the personal work, the landscape and cityscape photography that has kept me interested in the profession. My love of travel and interest in the varied cultures of this amazing planet have taken me to 34 countries on 4 continents. Most of my time abroad has been divided between Africa, Asia and Europe, Italy and Hong Kong being my favorite places for photography. The JW Marriott Sister City project provided signed prints for all the guest rooms and suites in the hotel, and took me to several locations that I had not explored before, namely Japan, Poland and Ghana. The remaining two, Italy and Mexico were familiar locales. This body of work again provides the subject matter for a new look at the Grand Rapids' sister cities.
Artist statement: I've always enjoyed putting together collages of my work, in a number of formats and layouts. This will be the first time I've ever put together a multiple collage project designed for a wall in this type of venue. This collage will encompass all five sister cities and will be an interesting overview of each, as part of a larger work. The final work will include as many as 40 images, floating on three different planes.
