Nancy Noel
Artist bio: American contemporary realist, Nancy Noel started her career modestly by drawing portraits for $10. Nancy’s images hang in the homes of celebrities & ordinary people, ie Mikhail Gorbachev, Jane Seymour, Robert Redford, Oprah, & many others.
Frustration with undiagnosed dyslexia propelled her into art as a child. After graduating college in 1967, Nancy opened the Noel Art Gallery & held art classes. In 1977 she devoted herself to painting fulltime. Her mediums are oils, acrylics, watercolors & pastels.
Nancy self-published her first print in 1984.Since, she has published over 300 prints with sales over $3 mil; with 8 books selling over a half million.
Living in NW Indiana, she lives on a farm raising horses & llamas. Nancy is involved in a variety of charities and has been the sole supporter of the N.A. Noel Preschool in Africa for more than a decade. In the summer of ’05 she renovated a 1800s church in Zionsville, IN, which has been the ideal venue to showcase her art.

About the work:
Title: Letting Go

Art form: 2-D

Medium: Oil on canvas

Year created: Work not created yet

Description of work: Oil on canvas with a hand carved, 22k white gold patina frame

Work statement: The reflexive mistake that holding on to the past protects one from an uncertain future in fact, traps us in beliefs and behavior that no longer serves life's purpose.

Letting go is a choice which frees us to expand, explore and experience new possibilities.

Holding on is an expression of fear. Letting go, in contrast, finds it's power in trust.

For me, painting is a meditation and teacher. I communicate my experience through my art.

The subjects I choose and the way in which I paint them reveals my unconscious state of mind. It serves as an indicator to my connection with the lingering past, the present and even the future.

I now realize, that sharing what I know through my work is often the gateway to another's awareness.
