Susan Visker
Artist bio: Sue Visker, a native of Kalamazoo, MI, has been drawing and painting for most of her life. Attracted to art from an early age, Sue didn’t begin formal studies until high school.
Mrs. Visker has participated in art classes and lessons the better part of her life. Sue has studied drawing, pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolor and 3D in a variety of settings such as Chicago, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Napa, CA. Each different setting provided a new learning experience in art, especially in art mediums. Currently, her preferred medium is acrylics.
Sue and her husband Roger have been married 35 years and currently reside just outside of Chicago. While raising four children, their lives were very busy. Sue was left with precious little time for art. The time that was afforded became a retreat. As each of Sue’s children grew up the artist in her emerged more and more. With four grown children and two granddaughters, Sue feels God has blessed her.
Artist statement: Nature inspires me to take a cup of coffee, sit down, observe and capture the truth of life around me. Art has been my retreat, my stress reliever, and my joy. My hope is that the viewer may be inspired to take the time to explore the beauty around all of us.
A lifetime of painting and drawing has taught me that the challenge of the creative process never ends. This is an ongoing process of endless observation, analysis, creation, recreation, tweaking, learning and the probability of starting all over again. My favorite subject, flowers provides a wonderful challenge of color, shape, and texture that inspires my art.
