Nancy Tobin
Artist bio: Nancy Tobin has parlayed her degree in commercial art from Kendall College into an award-winning graphic designer and children’s book illustrator, to the professional painting career she has enjoyed for the past ten years.
Since her move to the New York area, Nancy's painting career has taken flight. She has had solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums across the country, including the Cue Gallery in New York, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Michigan, Orange County Center for Contemporary art in California, Rutgers University and the Pierro Gallery in New Jersey. Her work is in the permanent collections of the New Jersey State Museum and the Montclair Art Museum.
In 2007, Tobin won the Brodsky Center for Innovative Print and Papermaking fellowship at Rutgers University. Her work has been acquired by numerous private and museum collectors.

Description of work: These paintings from my "Nowhere Here" series are built-up upon the flat surface of a 2 inch deep wooden panel. Layer after layer of clear acrylic medium is added, capturing elements; painted, collaged, drawn, stenciled and sponged between.
The effect is like looking into someplace familiar yet strange.

Work statement: I will be showing a select grouping of 12 to 20 paintings from this series. Some of the works are being created especially for this show.
