Work statement: This current body of work is an investigation into a post-minimal futuristic landscape. Tens of thousands of industrial manufactured porcelain tiles act as my primary medium of expression. These U.S. industrially manufactured tiles sit atop a secondary medium, over twelve hundred linear feet of fabricated U.S. steel. The idea of creating or building a city boggles my mind, yet new images and ideas of the post-modern landscape are in continuous fluxus in my imagination. While stacking individual tiles I reminisce of childhood fascinations of sci-fi novels, modern architectural wonders, simple geometrical patterns occurring in nature, op-art, and the parabolic spiral form that these structures reference. Other hidden ideas in the work hint of(DNA), binary code that plays with emergence theory an idea or a way of complex systems and patterns that arise out of a multiplicity of relative simple interactions.
