About the work:
Title: The Grandiose Numerical Equation

Art form: 2-D, 3-D, Sound

Medium: Sculpture

Year created: 2009

Description of work: This recent installation consists of over 60,000+ industrial manufactured porcelain tiles. 1200 linear feet of fabricated angle iron. Four sheets of 11 gauge steel 4' by 8'. Four channel surround sound speaker system with analog and digital loop sequencer playing voice and sound samples.

Work statement: This current body of work is an investigation into a post-minimal futuristic landscape. Tens of thousands of industrial manufactured porcelain tiles act as my primary medium of expression. These U.S. industrially manufactured tiles sit atop a secondary medium, over twelve hundred linear feet of fabricated U.S. steel. The idea of creating or building a city boggles my mind, yet new images and ideas of the post-modern landscape are in continuous fluxus in my imagination. While stacking individual tiles I reminisce of childhood fascinations of sci-fi novels, modern architectural wonders, simple geometrical patterns occurring in nature, op-art, and the parabolic spiral form that these structures reference. Other hidden ideas in the work hint of(DNA), binary code that plays with emergence theory an idea or a way of complex systems and patterns that arise out of a multiplicity of relative simple interactions. The simple act of playfully stacking combined with a focused intension emerges
