Woven

“Woven” is 9 panels in green, orange & purple, created from many interwoven strips of fabric of different textures, tones & weights. It explores the formation of individual personality within an interconnected community. I want to illustrate through color & texture how individuals are interlinked into families, communities & cultures. Individuals’ personalities & ideas are continuously changing & evolving . We are interwoven beings that take on an individual personality due to all the other people & experiences that shape us, both past & present. We are not, & should not seek to be, “pure” or isolated. When we accept that we are, in part, formed by the people, situations & experiences around us, it helps us embrace those things as formative rather than destructive. It also helps drive us to be integral pieces in the formation of others, with the confident knowledge that we make a lasting impact reaching beyond ourselves.
