For over 20 years Angie has had a passion for expressive art and healing. Angie was the recipient of the 2012 Honorary Award from the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children, for her work in using art as a therapeutic tool with at risk youth. She personally and professionally has studied and practiced expressive arts that enhances self- discovery, hope, healing and health. She has witnessed over the years the power art has in positively creating changes in people’s self-esteem, confidence, self-awareness, behavior modification and enhancing communication.Angie has been an Art Educator employed by the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District for 18 years at the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Center. She has extensive experience working with special education populations and trauma informed care. A three time Art Prize participating artist as well as a member of the Art Prize Educational Committee, Angie is dedicated to the infusion of art as a communication aide and healing tool.
