American Dream
My work is inspired by the hopes and frustrations of immigrants, who have come to the United States looking for the “American Dream”. My boat represents the meaning of why so many Cubans and other immigrants have come to this country. The imagery on the boat symbolizes and illustrates all the emotions and fears of people, along with their hopes and faithful dreams. The figures on the boat exemplify those, who dare to risk death in order to have the ability to come here. They are families making the journey and following their propensity of a more prosperous life, the “American Dream”.
