Hi my name is Angel Ricardo Luna Casarez from Grand Rapids Michigan. I attended the Illinois Institute of Art and Design in Chicago Illinois where I majored in fine art. I know have what I call a underground atelier where business is by word of mouth and not advertised. I design and make evening wear, wedding dresses and all around special occasion but my love is wearable art. I draw a lot of my inspiration from social issues. I then create beautiful garments that have been derived from dark situations, two of my past collections for Art Prize have been inspired by the Salem Witch Trials and Flint Water Crisis. At the end of the day I love what I do and I don't make much money from what I do but I would rather suffer for what I love doing then working for someone else and not being able to express myself and my ideas. I know a lot of people do not see what I do as art but those are the ones that make me work harder to prove that fashion is a true art form and should be recognized during Art Prize. Art is not just a painting, sculpture installation or drawing its also what we wear. What we wear can spark endless conversations about ourselves just as much as a fine painting.
