Earth Mother’ my Art Prize 2011 entry is a dramatic beaded collar that represents the beauty of our precious earth. The technique is a combination of bead weaving and bead embroidery using hand-cut and polished Jasper cabochons, porcelain leaves, wood bunnies, metal stampings, and embellished with stones, crystals, pearls, and seed beads. The collar will be displayed on a velvet bust and encased in a glass box. Measures 9”W x 18” H x 13” D. My recent awards include 5th Place in the West Michigan Regional Art Competition 2010, Judges Award at the E Lansing Fine Art Festival, Grand Prize Gold Medal from Fire Mountain Gems, and in Art Prize 2010, Top 75. My work is published in ‘Jewelry Designs with Art Glass Beads’, in Bead and Button Magazine, and my necklace is featured on the back cover of Beadwork Magazine June 2011 Issue.
