Amiri Geuka Farris is a contemporary artist who uses a wide range of work encompasses painting, drawing, video, performance and installation. Amiri's works are full of intimate personal experiences and examines issues surrounding diaspora, culture, memory and perception. Amiri Geuka Farris received his Masters of Fine Art in Painting, and his BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Amiri’s academic appointments include Professor of Fine Arts in foundations and graphic design at Georgia Southern University, at the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art, and Professor ofFine Arts, at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. Amiri’s work has been featured in more than 50 solo exhibitions and juried museum exhibitions in the the U.S., and internationally including the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. and the Smithsonian.When asked about his inspiration Farris explains, “I like to see artwork that will take one medium and use it to do something else. Artwork that is bold, expressive and completely different.”
