I was born in Northern Michigan and grew up in a small village of Sterling, Michigan. I attended Delta college where I received a degree in art. Shortly later I moved to Ann Arbor where I lived for 13 years. Struggling to find work in the arts, I begun working at the University of Michigan's Child Development Center, where I first realized the struggles of immigrant and minority students. Having a desire to "make a change in this world", I returned to college. I received a Master’s Degree in Social Work and became focused on urban education, working as a School Social Worker in Detroit. As a career advancement opportunity arose, I tearfully left Detroit. Currently I am working as a Clinical Therapist at a Federally Qualified Health Center, where our focus is providing integrated Heath Care services to Underserved Communities. Throughout my career I have utilized art as a therapeutic modality and have continued to do art as part of my own “self care”. I have had the opportunity to have several paintings on display in local venues and looking to grow my experience. As you can see, I am passionate about art, nature, photography, children and social matters, all of which heavily influence my art. My goal is to one day, combine Social Work and Art to increase children's access to the Arts in communities of need. I appreciate your time and Thank You for your support of the arts!
