Luminescent

2011 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

Luminescent represents the unplanned storms in our lives that blows sometimes so hard we cant even stand against it. Then suddenly there is a glimmer or most miraculously a beam of hope that shines through - even when chaos is still lurking around. My husband took some beautiful photographs of the 2010 September storm on Lake Michigan. Near the end of the storm incredible light cut thru the dark skies that immediately gave us vision for continuing to work with brass in this years Artprize! My husband and I love to use nature and landscapes as our subject with industrial materials as our canvas! Its the beauties of both worlds! It is a marriage of two mediums, two subjects and two techniques. We want to show brass in a new way. The piece will be 3-5 individual 3'x8' panels of modern landscape paintings. An Etching technique before and after painting will give texture and reveal bare brass. Bending of the metal sheet and lighting will really give the stormy effect.
