The process of collecting objects, taking them apart, and reassembling them in a new way has taught me many things. Learning how particular pieces have been constructed has made me appreciate how hard one works to carefully design, assemble, and create these objects. The amount of time, love, and dedication was clearly evident as I slowly undid their hard work. This process of working has also helped me to see the physical flaws in some of these objects. These evident flaws or quirks in various pieces are what make that particular object unique; it soon became my goal to make sure the misfits appear as if they play a vital role in the group. The installation, although consisting of numerous parts and pieces, appears consistent and unified…as if each part was meant to be striped of its identity for the purpose of being displayed together in a new way. This piece has been made possible by the gracious donation of Sietsema Orchards & Cider Mill’s apple crates.
