Alice Pixley Young was born in Washington DC and attended Ringling College of Art and Design and the New York Studio Residency Program. She received an MFA from the University of Maryland and an MA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Young’s work has been supported through grants from the City of Cincinnati, the Surdna Foundation and the NEA and her work has been featured in various art journals including Sculpture Magazine in 2011 and 2016. Recently, her work has been nationally exhibited in several critical spaces: Bullseye Projects in Portland, Oregon where she was a finalist in the eMerge 2014 Glass Biennial, the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, Michigan as part of the ArtPrize festival, the 21c Museums in Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky and the Currents International New Media Festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2015. This year, Young was awarded Best in Show for her work at 1708 Gallery’s InLight Richmond exhibition at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Young has been a fellow at many residencies including Hambidge, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Ragdale, Jentel, Vermont Studio Center and the Contemporary Artist's Center. She maintains a studio in Cincinnati, Ohio.
