Just the Way You Are
2012 ArtPrize Entry"Just the Way You Are" is a song from my musical called "RABBITMITTEN." It's a duet that's sung by the two main characters at the end of the show. The lacking-in-self-confidence Yupi and the painfully shy Trolletta sing to each other when they finally discover the wonderful thing about believing in and being yourself -- being just the way you are. If you're a Michigander, you'll undoubtedly be able to figure out where they get their names. For those of you that aren't, Yupi comes from "the U.P." (the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and Trolletta comes from the fact that those of us who live south of (below) the Mackinaw Bridge are called trolls!
