In an effort to reduce the ecological impact of the event, ArtPrize works to promote alternative transportation, waste diversion, sustainable living practices and citywide efforts around collective sustainability solutions.
Alternative transportation: With our friends at Mobile GR and Blue Cross Blue Shield, ArtPrize works to promote alternative transportation to lower carbon impact, promote equity and encourage healthy living. Find an environmentally-friendly transport option that works best for you.
Recycling/Composting: ArtPrize seeks to dispose waste responsibly by providing S.O.R.T. stations in partnership with The City of Grand Rapids, Kent County Department of Public Works and West Michigan Environmental Action Council.
ArtPrize Water Share: Pick up a free Water Share sticker at the Visitor Pavilion for your reusable water bottle. Each sticker allows you to fill your water bottle at participating venues all around the ArtPrize district.
“ArtPrize has become an integral part of what makes Grand Rapids a great place to live, work, and play. The event and all who participate in this community treasure contribute to our city’s cultural and economic vibrancy and sustainability. Working together, we can increase diversity and inclusiveness, decrease energy consumption, and continue to spur growth while preserving natural assets and meeting shared sustainability goals to ensure Grand Rapids is a great place to live for everyone for generations to come.” – Mayor Rosalynn Bliss
