I describe myself as a contemporary realist painter and scientist. My background includes classical training in old world painting techniques as well as many years in medical research and teaching as professor of human medicine. Art and science are often one in my life. There is beauty to be found in the microscopic world as well as within the people around me. Working with human disease has been a great teacher regarding the value of scientific research. While planning a composition, I seek to achieve an expressive interplay of light and shadow. My goal is to produce work which can be enjoyed by a wide audience. For those working in the life sciences, I would like them to know that the beauty of their work is appreciated. I also hope to encourage members of the general public to seek out additional information regarding the value of research in the life sciences both in the past and for our future. firstname.lastname@example.org
