UICA - Sheldon Exhibition Center
Venue description
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Art's Exhibition Center will offer 25+ gallery spaces for exhibitions and presentations by ArtPrize artists at two locations. All work will be juried by professional curators. Artists are asked to apply at only one of UICA's two venues.
When you apply to exhibit at UICA, you are applying to both UICA’s Sheldon location and Fulton location. After the selection process is complete, UICA’s curatorial staff will decide where artists will be located within UICA’s venues.
Venue statement
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) is one of the largest multidisciplinary contemporary art centers in the Midwest and the largest in Michigan. The UICA is proud to be a leader creating vital and challenging pathways to human expression. For more than 30 years, this organization has offered an extensive range of programs and services to support artists who take creative risks.
As part of an ongoing commitment to promote challenging, innovative practices in the visual arts, the UICA is seeking work that addresses contemporary issues and concerns, and/or work that pushes traditional boundaries in its treatment of materials or subject.
This venue has space for large scale indoor and outdoor sculpture, as well three spaces designed specifically for sound/video work.
