Andrew Kovatch

Artist bio

Andrew is a local resident of Jenison, MI. He has a passion for Michigan, film, and all forms of art. In the past he has worked on several film projects such as the Grand Valley State University’s Summer Film entitled Walters Wife (2008) and most recent Grooters Productions' first feature film The Frontier Boys (2010). His aim is for people to view art the way he does, with endless possibilities.
About the work
Title: Cranes for Kids

Art form: 3-D

Medium: Installation

Year created: Work not created yet

Description of work: Cranes for kids is an experiment intended to deliver wishes to children. In Ancient Japanese folklore anyone who folds 1000 paper cranes in their lifetime will be granted one wish from a crane; a long life or recovery from illness.

My hope is to, as a community, fold 100,000 paper cranes and donate them to the children at the new Helen Devos Children's Hospital opening in 2011.

A wish brings with it hope, and every child deserves hope.
