My entry will have a strong emphasis on the Great Lakes, environmental protection and water conservation. Working as a photo journalist, I will cover the Great Lakes United TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE 2010 race in July. The race runs through all five Great Lakes - making port in cities throughout the US and Canada.
On July 19, I will board the S/V Denis Sullivan and document their voyage from Bay City, MI to Duluth, MN. The exhibit will consist of the best images captured throughout the journey.
The Tall Ship Race is a sporting event, a tourism draw and a maritime history lesson. However, this year's main message is much more serious. Tall Ships are one of the most sustainable forms of transportation. I will capture compelling images to spur the public's imagination and desire to take personal steps towards conservation of our fragile Lakes |
