Stacy Niedzwiecki

Artist bio

Nature’s beauty has found its way through Niedzwiecki's camera lens, earning awards in many competitions. Her work has been featured in the Michigan 24/7 book, Whisper in the Woods Nature Journal, the Rockford Squire, Michigan BLUE and Michigan History magazines and the Explore St. Louis Official Visitors’ Guide.

In August of 2009, Niedzwiecki was awarded Second Place in the Pure Michigan Photo Competition, shooting for Travel Michigan, the State of Michigan's official tourism agency.

Two of Stacy’s images were selected to hang on display at the Governor’s Residence in Lansing as part of the Governor’s Residence Michigan Artists Program in July 2008.

Her most honored accomplishment is the installation of 63 of her nature images in the permanent art collection at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion in Grand Rapids, Michigan. These images are showcased in her first book effort, "Healing Images - A Selection from the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion" released in March 2010.
About the work
Title: Great Lakes – Great Ships – Great Concerns

Art form: 2-D, Film / Video

Medium: Photography

Year created: 2010

Description of work: * Images are representational - work begins July 15. My images will be reproduced on fine art canvas, metallic papers and transparent material.

My entry will have a strong emphasis on the Great Lakes, environmental protection and water conservation. Working as a photo journalist, I will cover the Great Lakes United TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE 2010 race in July. The race runs through all five Great Lakes - making port in cities throughout the US and Canada.

On July 19, I will board the S/V Denis Sullivan and document their voyage from Bay City, MI to Duluth, MN. The exhibit will consist of the best images captured throughout the journey.

The Tall Ship Race is a sporting event, a tourism draw and a maritime history lesson. However, this year's main message is much more serious. Tall Ships are one of the most sustainable forms of transportation. I will capture compelling images to spur the public's imagination and desire to take personal steps towards conservation of our fragile Lakes
