"Look For Signs"

Hodges-Oginsky-Richards Vote Code: 68574

Do we rely on intuition? Do we walk aimlessly and react or respond to experiences with a cause and effect state of mind? Do we allow nature to talk to us? Can we recognize synchronicity? Is our life filled with coincidence or mindful actions? *** Looking for directions, guidance, awareness or a message from a higher power, signs are available to us. Sailors use the sky and stars to navigate; farmers use the smell and feel of the soil and weather patterns to grow crops; mystics use their intuitiveness and curiosity to become a "conduit of power."*** Some signs are subtle like a song of a bird, the orchestra of insects, a breeze through the trees, a wave as it hits the shore, the bloom of a plant following the sun, or a random rock formation in the sand after a storm. Some signs are more obvious, like a stop sign, a heartbeat or lab value, our aches and pains, the moon, constellations or the many colors of the sky.*** As photographers, the opportunity to capture signs is ongoing, yet knowing which sign is a guidepost is not always evident. "Look For Signs" is a mixed-media collage composed of personal photographs, ephemera, artifacts, quotes, words and paint applications portraying a surreal interpretation of the signs we encounter. As a collaborative piece, it provides unique perspectives and understanding of the signs we observe and stumble upon on our journeys. *** As WE draw inspiration from our day to day experiences, "Look For Signs" may evoke some thoughts, emotions and inspiration in YOU. If we take the time to use our senses: seeing, listening, feeling, smelling, and tasting, our arms and hearts can be open to the signs the universe presents.
