Irony

Have you ever been in a season of darkness, the dark night of the soul, if you will? And the only words you heard sounded like people were brushing gold paint on your pain or sprinkling your trauma with glitter hoping that you would feel better....or really, that your problems would look better to them? This experience for me inspired this painting. I began painting this with a canvas covered with a painting that was a vortex of blue. Some people loved the underpainting, but it didn't sing my song. So I "fixed" it by copious amounts of gold paint, glitter, broken glass, resin, spray paint, pigments and more gold! Here in lies the "irony". Sometimes...gold paint and glitter really do solve problems. Especially in my paintings.
