Fountain to Memories My work often engages themes around mindfulness, meditation, and sensory experience. When I tried to learn how to knit, the instructor encouraged me to ignore my mistakes and keep going. So I just kept going and adding more yarn and playing with adding or taking away stitches, making them looser and tighter, and eventually learning how to pearl. As the form evolved, it came to represent a timeline of sorts, where memories got nested into each second spent on each stitch. The ceramic pinch pots were added as both weights and lifters of the form. They are vessels that carry more significant memories that can either weight or lift our sense of identity and experience of space, community, and time. This is an ongoing project. I continue to knit and make more pinch pots, adding to the piece through the passage of time.
