A photograph captured by Stacy Niedzwiecki during sunset on the mouth of the Hurricane River leading into Lake Superior, Michigan. Lake Superior is the largest freshwater body in the world and the third largest by volume. The threat of mining for sulfide and other minerals such as copper, nickel, gold and other metals must be kept in check to protect its fragile waters and tributaries. Beyond enjoying the Great Lakes' natural beauty, we have an obligation to ourselves and future generations to keep contaminated and toxic sediment from building up in our drinking water and food chain. I encourage private, public, and corporate interests to become proactive in discovering solutions to protect this vital, precious resource. The photograph has been reproduced on fine canvas with metallic ink, in a gallery-wrapped finish with wire on the back (ready-to-hang). It is extremely lightweight and easy to install.
