This piece is a reaction to man destroying our oceans, lakes, and rivers with pollution. I imagined how the ancient greek gods would react to today's world, and pictured Persephone rising up from the Underworld to greet the world in the Spring. What would she find? I used watercolor paint on Yupo paper to create the rich textures of the rocks and river. Yupo is a paper made from polypropylene, enabling me to remove part of the paint to create the various textures. The white paper shining through the paint creates a luminous glow.
