Orpheus The core and original inspiration of this piece is Rilke’s poem, Orpheus Eurydike Hermes. Vincent translated the German into English some years ago, before performing it live in Greece at the Sikelianos Theatre Delphi in July 2017. For this recorded version with slideshow, Zoë Moskal opens and closes the sequence with acapella extracts from Glück’s aria from Orfeo ed Euridice, sung in a natural style. Tina Moskal translated the closing lyrics into (modern) Greek, in recognition of the legend’s origin; we believe it may be the first time the aria has been sung in Greek. Photos are of caves in Greece and Scotland evoking the atmosphere of the Underworld. This mix of ancient Greek legend, Austro-Italian opera and German poetry is blended with the crafts of photography, song, poetry, recitation, translation and IT. Final editing was in June 2017.
