"Doom! Doom! Doom! Something seems to whisper it in the very dark trees of America. Doom! Doom of what? Doom of our white day." (D. H. Lawrence, Studies in Classic American Literature, 1923, Chapter 11, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick). DARK TREES is a large site-specific multi-screen video projection that will be presented at the SiTE:LAB venue in the 3500 sq ft chapel space. This project is being filmed on location -- 415 Franklin Street SE -- of the former Grand Rapids Christian High School (1931-1972) and Kent County Social Services Department (1973-2009), and will explore the complex and charged history of the site. This project is a collaboration between artist Paul Amenta, SideCar Studios, and actor Joe Anderson.
