Living on Less than $2.00 a Day

It’s been estimated that 1.5 billion women around the world live on less than $2.00 a day. For most of us our daily cup of coffee, from our local coffee shop, costs more than what these women live on each and every day. Living in extreme poverty, these women face incredible hardships and challenges that we would find unimaginable in our world: unsanitary living conditions, homelessness, lack of food and clean water, forced childhood marriages, vulnerability to sex-trafficking, honor killings, maternal deaths, genital mutilation, rape, sexual violence and torture, pain and humiliation of fistula, high incidents of Aids and HIV, and the discouragement of being illiterate and too unskilled to earn a living. SowHope, a locally founded international nonprofit focuses exclusively on the holistic needs of women living in extreme poverty. Visit SowHope.org to learn more about how you can help empower these women.
