Portraits have been at the forefront of my art for at least the past ten years. In my college years this passion reached its peak and has stayed with me. I am a people-starer. I don't just people-watch; I become captivated by faces, gestures, perceived emotions. I am always secretly painting, even if my people-staring is not so secret. These three women are friends; friends that I have had to pleasure to travel with or encounter in my travels or both. They have people-stared with me. They have shared their stories with me and pondered the stories of others. To me, people's stories are what give them power, and our faces have a lot to tell. I invite you to ponder the stories of these women and the power that just a glimpse of a person's life holds.
