A Tribute to Black Dogs

This entry relates to black dog syndrome. This occurs when black dogs are frequently passed over in shelters with dogs of lighter colors. It has been known that these dogs are often the last ones to be adopted and subsequently the first ones to be euthanized. Recently there have been some studies regarding this syndrome that may not actually exist. Black dogs are now spending less time at a rescue kennel and are being adopted more often than in the past. The watercolor painting of our 4 year old adopted dog Bella represents a rescue dog who is a black lab terrier mix. Marley, age 13, is a Yorkshire Terrier Poodle mix and Peppy, age 5, is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Coco, age 14, is an Australian German Shepherd Golden Retriever mix. Sadly Marley and Coco have gone to dog heaven within the past 8 months. They are all very smart, friendly and loving pets. It is my hope to create awareness of these beautiful dogs.
