EPONA Celtic Horse I was born in Detroit, and love this City, its people, and the beautiful architecture that once was. Detroit has come full circle from its brilliant years of architectural grandeur, to ruins, to experiencing a renaissance throughout. I have always had a propensity towards rock, limestone in particular. Perhaps my Irish heritage has something to do with it. Limestone, however the artist or architect uses it, is timeless in its appearance and permanent in its setting. The reflection of sunlight and fire against the chisled look of limestone is what appeals to me most. The combination of shadow and light show off every detail of the rock, inspiring me to create art with limestone. The first inclination I have with stone is to touch it. Feel its texture, its hardness, its softness. My limestone pieces are salvaged pieces of City limestone, rescued from the crusher, that once enriched some of Detroit’s distinguished limestone buildings, schools and homes.
