What Are You Masking?

Arbor Circle Vote Code: 67548

The masks featured in this installation were created by children and youth who are participating in Arbor Circle's Family-Based Counseling Services. When the young people were presented with the theme "What Are You Masking?" they were asked to contemplate how they present themselves to the world and what parts of themselves they may be intentionally masking, or how people may see them without knowing what lies beneath. Some youth chose to create masks that addressed these questions, while others used the process as an opportunity for creative expression or therapeutic release. This is the 3rd year an Arbor Circle youth collaboration will be in ArtPrize following AP16's "Streets to Stability," 200 painted wooden silhouettes near Calder Plaza, and AP17's B&W photo series "Raise Your Hands, Raise Your Voices" at the City Water Building by Richard App.
