Oh say can you see?

“Oh, say can you see,” . . . that gun violence is attacking our nation on so many levels? FEAR-ANIMOSITY-SOCIAL INJUSTICE There is mistrust of our neighbors, concern for our children’s lives, and partisan rhetoric so loud we cannot hear. Our nation’s social consciousness must rise up in battle against inaction. My abstract, battered flag represents our country’s fragmentation, the broad stripes and bright stars have lost their brilliance and are now a dispirited gray. The free- standing wooden sculpture stands like a wall representing our division and isolation. Yet, there is hope. Our courageous youth have become a catalyst for the start of truthful, meaningful conversations. May we all be brave and seek a collective cross-party path in helping to find answers to this deadly epidemic. *This composition is currently in progress.
