MARLEY.....What a joy to create and a joy to share! This is the first sculpture by this artist. The inspiration for Marley emerged while working on a previous project using fabric tubes. The body is constructed using foam, muslin, gesso, leather and fabrics. There are 4,500 fabric tubes, all made individually then attached to create the lions mane. Of all the cats, the mane is unique to the lion and thus became the focal point. The body is covered with snippets of fabric and the eyes were created using 1" marbles. Marley took nine months to complete after researching skeletal and muscle structure, tools and materials, designing, creating a pattern, carving and final touches. Marley has taught this artist that anything is possible and is looking forward to what next emerges! Marley can be seen at the Lions and Rabbits Art Gallery, 1264 Plainfield Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, Mi.
